Antique silver plate oil lamp component by Gorham, marked “YC490” on the base. This piece was the base of a Victorian-era oil lamp, featuring a vented top gallery and pedestal base. The vented top piece is removable so it can be used as a vase or for plant propagation.
The form has a beautifully aged patina with natural wear consistent with age, including visible spotting and darkening to the silver plate. The top assembly is intact but shows wear and slight irregularity, adding to its authentic antique character.
Approx. dimensions: 9”h x 4”w x 4”d
This piece is ideal for:
use as a vase
antique lighting collectors
restoration projects
or display as a standalone industrial/primitive object
A unique and increasingly hard-to-find fragment of early lighting design.
Noticeable patina and surface wear
Slight “wonkiness”/tilt to top assembly (see photos)
Untested and sold as decorative/collector piece
